Does NOT include Connect access code!

My college bookstore sells this book with Connect access under the same ISBN, but I thought I would save a few dollars and buy it from Amazon instead. The Amazon description led me to believe that a Connect code would also be included with this book. I did see the other reviews stating otherwise, but figured they ordered it used or from a 3rd party and that is why the code wasn't included. I made sure to purchase a "new" book "shipped and sold" by Amazon, but still no Connect code. I now have to pay an additional fee for Connect. It would have been cheaper for me to purchase a new copy with Connect from the college bookstore or maybe I would have purchased a used copy of the book on Amazon if I'd have known Connect was not included. The Amazon book description could be worded a little better. Rating three stars as I do not yet have an opinion of the book itself. I may change the rating as I work my way through the book.

Note: The book does mention a 3-week free trial of Connect for those who want to try it before spending more money. However, Connect access is a requirement in my class.

Update: Looks like the product description has since changed and there is even a note saying that it is a standalone book. I'm glad the description has been updated.

It will save you time, money, energy, stress and guide you every step of the way from sure start to happy ending.

Start Right: Build Your Own Business has been co-written by Ms. Jeannine Lecy, CEO of Egan Enterprises, Inc., who has worked with more than 650 small businesses over the past 20 years, and The American Center for Credit Education (ACCE), a nonprofit, accredited organization
whose mission is to make national standardized credit and financial education available to all consumers.

They have included everything you'll need to start and run a successful business, right from your own business pre-assessment process to writing a mission statement, creating a business plan, budgeting, asking for professional help, office organization, branding, marketing, and finally, (you guessed it) your business post-assessment process (to be filled in after you finish reading the book).

What I liked best about the book is that this book not only provides the necessary information but also the motivation, guidance, and encouragement to take action, using case studies and detailed worksheets.

I also liked the carefully curated quotations in every chapter.

An absolute must-read!!

I'm a creative, right-brained entrepreneur who was nervous about learning to handle my business finances. This book explains it all simply and clearly, with lots of charts to illustrate what to do. I talked to a business mentor who told me that the number one thing small-business owners make mistakes with is their finances. If you follow what's in this book, you will know how to take care of the money for yourself and your business!

I also liked the section that tells you how to research a business idea. I live in a town where lots of copycat businesses seem to open and close quickly. Research is the way to make sure your business stands out and fills a need in your area!

This answered questions I didn't know I had, and makes me feel a lot better prepared to run my business.

Very In Depth Guide

I agreed to receive a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. After getting into it I was pleasantly surprised and delighted to see that it is very well written and has a lot of depth. It covers lots of ground with all the details you could need to start a business. Whether you want to buy an existing business or start your own included in this package are many worksheets to help you determine what you need to do to get started on the path to success. There are stories and examples throughout that give you the good and bad side of things to help you attain a good understanding of all the ins and outs of business. I would recommend it to anyone interested in getting in business for themselves.
