Trepanning would be preferable over this book.

I just want my money back. The language used is stilted and some places reads like a series of unrelated words strung together in random patterns. No real explanation of foundational concepts is present here. I would not recommend this book to anyone even if it was free.

A massive load of garbage

When i decided to get this book i did so after reading several reviews of how great it was and how its perfect for beginners, but i had been mislead. All those positive reviews i read came with a disclaimer stating that they had recieved this book for free in exchange for an "honest" review. i confidently went head and purchased this book. the language is terrible. makes little grammatical sense and concepts are hardly explained. i'm not too much of a beginner, but it has been awhile since i have done physics in school despite this i can tell you that basic concepts aren't explained properly at all. I didn't even read through to the end. a couple of pages in and you will see how bad this poorly written book is. i paid for this garbage and this is my honest review: save your money. buy something else.

The description in the title seems misleading

This was not at all what I expected. I was looking for something teaching about how circuit components worked (eg. resistors, transistors, capacitors, etc.) and their different electronic properties, but contrary to the description on the cover, this book doesn't even touch that subject. This seems more a broad overview of the electronic engineering field - a lot of the material seems more like a detailed college course description that doesn't actually teach any of the course content. All that aside, this may be somewhat useful to someone getting into the field as a profession, but I would definitely not recommend it for someone like myself who just does this as a hobby. And last but not least, even if this was the content I wanted, it does not make a good audio book since there are a lot of lists where, as another reviewer states, it seems like the narrator is just throwing out a string of random words.

I got this book thinking it would provide me insight into how to move my organization from Waterfall to Agile. I expected it to provide techniques,how to address relevant issues,lessons learned and transition plans. It did not provide any of that. It essentially explained how to sell the Agile concept in your organization and discuss common change management techinques that could have applied to any organizational change.

Two powerfull fools defeated by Ayatollah Khomeini

I read this good book, here in Brazil. The subject of this book is the fight between then American President Carter with the Iranian last Shah. Carter then had the biggest military spending in the world. And the Shah had the third biggest military spending in all the third world; behind only China and then Soviet Union. The most powerfull man in the world plus then most powerfull Islamic ruller, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran, against the "powerless" Ayatollah Khomeini, a man living in exile. And the "powerless" Ayatollah Khomeini easily won the fight, because Carter and the Shah were both stooges, fools, demagogues, cowards and incompetents. Ayatollah Khomeini won this fight because his mind was strong, with will to win and rule Iran for the rest of his life. A thing that he got without any wound for him and without any battle for his group.
This book has some problems:
1-More than 75% of this book is about Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini and Islamic Revolution. More than 95% of this book is about Islamic affairs. Less than 5% of this book isn't about Islamic affairs. What did Carter about Brazil, Argentina, etc.? There's some sentences about Carter in Nicaragua, but even this subject is incomplete. About the donation of Panama Canal, the author remains against it. I don't agree; even Henry Kissinger told correct the donation of Panama Canal to Panama. If its title would be "Carter and Islamic Terror", this book would deserves five stars, but its title is other.
2-This book is biased. The Carter's failures are on it. His success(few) are forgotten, in this book. About the Iran's last Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, there's not even 10% of the failures of that Iranian king. The Shah was a coward , corrupt and incompetent. Yes, the Ayatollah Khomeini was far worse than the Shah in anything, but this fact doesn't support a bias for the Shah and his family. When the Shah left Iran, he saved his dogs, not his generals and admirals.
3-Small mistakes on pages 257(no airplane capable of 360 tons of cargo),383 and 386.
Even with these small failures, I have to give four stars for this book, because:
1-When any American makes a mistake or is wrong, the author tells the truth. He calls traitor, stupid to any American wrong. Not only Carter is criticized. American general Robert Ernest Huyser (1924-1997) and American ambassador Sullivan are described as they really told and did.
2-This book is fun. CIA's mistakes are in many parts of this book. Dozens of mistakes from not only CIA, but American, British, French presses are in this book. Carter didn't needed foes; Carter's advisers were the main Khomeini's friends, together with Occidental media; including American press.
3-This book is very easy to understand.

About the Author
Leonard Leslie Brooke was born on September 24, 1862 in Birkenhead, England. He became a leading illustrator and author of children’s books with watercolors and pen-and-ink line drawings after illustrating a nursery rhyme book for author Andrew Lang. Brooke married Sybil Diana Brooke and they had two sons, one of whom became British Home Secretary. Leonard passed away in 1940, leaving a lasting legacy as one of the most skillful and prolific illustrators and authors, of more than two dozen books.

A cute version of the famous fairy tale with just minor variations

Brooke's (1862-1940) story of the pigs is essentially the same as the well-known version except that after the wolf fails to blow down the third pig's brick house, he tries four different ways to get to the pig so that he can eat him. This version tells how the third pig evades the wolf's four attempts, the last being the well-known part of the tale. The story is well written and there is humor in the way Brooke tells the tale.

One of the older versions of the story.

L. Leslie Brooke was a British illustrator, not an author. As usual, there are no illustrations in the free Kindle edition of this story. However, the illustrations were easy to find on the web. The author of this little volume is listed as unknown by those who converted it to digital. The story is the same or very similar to the circa 1886 version by James Halliwell-Phillipps. In this older version of the tale there is not a happy ending for all, just for the third little pig. My 7 year old (and my wife who was listening) liked the story better than the sanitized versions. My 7 year old says, "It was kind of creepy the way the wolf ate the first two pigs. It was different the way the third pig ate the wolf instead of the way it is in the other one." This review is from the free Kindle edition published May 12, 2012.

About the Author

Shannon L. Maynard lives in Colorado with her five girls where she is a legal assistant by day and an author by night. In between working and writing she can be found driving kids to soccer, folding mountains of pink laundry, or eating her weight in chocolate. Other addictions include shoe shopping, reading YA, and Australian and British accents (which may be partly to blame for her massive crush on Thor). If she had one wish it would be for more hours in the day to spend enjoying all of the above. Okay, everything except the laundry.

Shannon studied art and criminology before getting a license in cosmetology, but eventually wound up an expert daydreamer; a skill that occasionally leads to getting lost while driving, but has been a huge asset to her love for writing. Her debut novel WICKED LUCK is set to release June 2015 and is the first book in the Wicked Luck Trilogy.

Good plot, but nothing compared to book one

I absolutely loved the first book so when i heard the sequel had been released i grabbed it immediately. I was even more hooked when i saw the amazing cover.

And while the character development starts where we left off and continues at the perfect place, i found myself getting increasingly annoyed, not with Ava's inability to choose between her two men, but the way she plays them both. I understand that she was in love with them both but it felt like she changed her mind as soon as she was with the other guy every time and i felt myself getting annoyed with it. Despite this i persevered and found myself able to look past it and enjoy the plot that Shannon has continued to develop. The other characters were a great addition to the story line and now and then i did feel myself liking a few of the romance moments between Ava and Dax.

Of course, it does end on a cliffhanger that leaves us wanting book 3. I was slightly disappointed at the cliffhanger as the author had spent the previous chapters building up this perfect ending and instead of leaving me desperately wanting more, i found myself slightly annoyed that i didn't like the cliff hanger ending. Maybe it was because book one left me with such high expectations...

Wicked Fate

I received a copy of Wicked Fate from the publisher for an honest review...
Wicked Fate picks up where Wicked Luck ended. I loved the cliffhanger ending of Wicked Luck and couldn't wait to get a copy of Wicked Fate.
But I was disappointed in this one. Wicked Fate a lot more action and turns then Wicked Luck had and that is what gives it the 4 star rating. I found myself getting increasing annoyed at Ava and Roxy and how their characters turned out. I just felt that there could have been a lot more. The story started out promising, dragged in the middle and picked up at the end.
But the Dax and Preston were still great characters. Even though they both loved Ava, they still worked together to make sure they all stayed safe. The triangle going between them didn't cause them to go off the deep end. Kirk and Anna seem like they have a back story and little pieces of their story seemed to come up throughout the book.
The end of the book was great. I love the cliffhanger because it is making me want the next book.

The perfect sequel to Wicked Luck

Oh. My. Gosh. This is the sequel to Wicked Luck, which I reviewed a few days ago. Click here to read my review of Wicked Luck. Wicked Luck ends in a dramatic cliffhanger, and Wicked Fate picks up right in the middle of the action.
There’s so much to talk about, so I’ll start with what I loved about this book. I loved the romance of it all. In Wicked Luck, in terms of vying for Ava’s affection, it was Dax against Ava’s memory of Preston. Now, it’s Dax against Preston, head on. It’s this love triangle that makes up most of the conflict of the novel, as both guys love her, and it’s up to Ava to choose who she wants to be with. There are amazing scenes with both guys taking her on island dates, and, as the co-pilot Kirk keeps mentioning, reminds me of The Bachelorette, where all that’s missing is a rose to give to the chosen guy. To be honest, as the truth comes to light, it might even be hard to choose a guy to side with. (Team Dax? Team Preston? It’s a hard choice!!!) Once again, the narrative is spot on, and you can clearly imagine the events of the novel in your head as if you were there. There’s also more drama with the tribes, which is exactly what I had been hoping for. We get a backstory on how they came to live on the island, and their beliefs come to light and spark the climax of the novel.
Now, when it comes to things I didn’t like, it was mainly a few characterization issues and continuity problems, the latter of which may be fixed in the editing process before the release. In terms of continuity, there was a scene in which Dax asked Ava what she loved about Preston and about past dates they went on, all of which were things that Dax should have known from Ava’s diary. Maybe he just wanted to hear it from her mouth, which would make sense in the context of the scene. When it comes to characterization, I wish we could have gotten to know Anna more. In both books, she’s just a side character who doesn’t say much, and somehow comes to have an important, but still minor role in the grand scheme of things. Also, Roxy, Ava’s sister, could have been fleshed out more. We get to see that she’s bitter and angry that she’s lost everything while Ava seems to have everything better, leading to a huge case of sibling rivalry between the two, but we don’t really get to see much of her after her dramatic exit, and by then it’s too late to get into her head much. Bummer.
I highly recommend this series, and now I’m desperately hoping for another book, because, as I said earlier, this ends in a cliffhanger, and I’m still on edge after reading that ending! As stated in my review of Wicked Luck, this is a book that anyone could love. There’s a love triangle, plenty of action, tragedy, and plenty of revelations throughout the entire book. While the first book may have been lacking in excitement and conflict, this book is full of it. If you want to read a unique romance, Wicked Luck and Wicked Fate are the books for you.
